Tori Truscheit is an Organizing Director as well as a published journalist, who outlines LGBTQ issues for media companies such as BuzzFeed. This articles intention is to capture the minds of parents/families that might actively have someone in their family that’s transitioning as well as parents in general. Truscheit shares stories about Peña and Cruz, who are both transgender, and their journey of becoming trans. This article is informing families that young transgender people have to choose their battles, and at some point, their families failure to accept them isn’t a battle they’re willing to fight, because homelessness is their second option.
